Course Overview

This course is a basic foundational course for individuals new to hydronic heating. Beginning with focusing on heat energy effects on water temperature and the flow relationship adding basic hydronic heating system components are discussed along with design considerations. When completed an individual should be able to identify hydronic boiler basic components and their functions.

Learning Objectives

  1. Explain and apply the Water/Btu Formula
  2. Describe the function of basic hydronic heating components: High Limit, Low Water Cut-off, Flow Switch and Back-flow Preventer.
  3. Discuss the effects of high/low water flow and heat emitter performance
  4. Explain Feet of Head pressure drop and GPM flow requirements to design a simple heating system
